Food Security and Nutrition
We believe in nourishing communities. Through strategic interventions, we work towards ensuring access to nutritious food, fostering food security, and improving the overall well-being of those we serve.
This initiative is aimed to create a culture of self-sustainability and to enhance household food security and access to healthy food in communities.
Activities:
- Establishing Food gardens for ECDs
- Establishing Food gardens for schools
- Establishing Food gardens for food insecure households, etc.
Environmental Sustainability: Cleaning and Greening
Taking care of our planet is at the heart of what we do. By promoting sustainable practices, we contribute to the preservation of natural resources, biodiversity, and a healthier environment for all. We take pride in our role as stewards of cleaner and greener spaces. Our efforts enhance the aesthetics of communities, promote cleanliness, and create environments where people thrive.
Our focus is on assisting communities to maintain a safe and clean environment; and adopt greening activities as part of daily life.
Activities:
- Planting trees, litter picking, eradicating illegal dumping sites
- Cleaning, and beautification of public spaces, etc.
Public Infrastructure and Road Maintenance
Strong communities rely on well-maintained infrastructure. Through diligent efforts, we ensure that public infrastructure and roads remain in optimal condition, facilitating connectivity and accessibility.
Through this initiative we ensure that communities use improved and safe public roads and spaces.
Activities:
- Patching potholes, clearing access roads.
- Stormwater drainage systems clearing
- Roadside grass trimming, cutting of alien plants, etc.
Nation-building and social cohesion
Intervention primary focuses:
- Confronting discrimination and systemic racism and contribute to nation-building, dialogue and healing
- Fostering leadership and active citizenry
- Broadening sports and recreation
- Patriotism
Motivational & Awareness Outreach Campaigns
Intervention primary focuses:
- Spearheads motivational and awareness outreach campaigns within communities
- Fosters partnership with local private businesses, stakeholders, community members, gatekeepers and celebrities to participate in structured events for youth development.
Effective and Responsive Youth Development Platforms
Intervention primary focus:
OHO believes that, all spheres of government need to work alongside the youth to involve them in planning and decision-making; building connections between the youth, national priorities and local communities; challenge stereotypes depicting youth as a “social problem”; channel the energy, leadership and fresh perspectives of the population into social, economic, cultural and environmental renewal; and promote young people as active citizens who are able to tackle social problems and act on opportunities.
Mission trips
Intervention primary focus:
OHO invites individuals, private businesses, NGO’s, religious and non-religious groups to participate in structured youth and schools development activities in African communities.
